Welcome To The OLA Resource Program Site

MISSION STATEMENT

          At Our Lady of Angels School, our goal is to meet the needs of all students, including those with learning challenges. Three learning specialists work with students in kindergarten through grade 8. Each of these teachers target specific grades: Kindergarten through grade 2 - Terry Chartz, grades 1 through 4 - Janice Herlihy, grades 5-8 - Marg McCaffery. Our goal is to identify and remediate learning issues with emphasis on reading, language arts, math, and study skills. The resource team provides support, education and resources to students, parents and classroom teachers. We are committed to insuring student success, confidence and independence. 

 

       SCHEDULE 

Mrs. Chartz - Tuesday and Wednesday 8-1

Mrs. McCaffery Tuesday and Thursday 8-3 and Homework Club 3:15 - 4:30.

Wednesday 10 -1

Resource Specialists

Terry ChartzTerry Chartz joined the OLA  Resource team in 2007 where her focus has been in Kindergarten through grade  2. Previously she taught the 4's at OLA Preschool for 9 years. She received both her BS and CA Life credential from UC  Davis. Terry completed the UC Berkeley Educational Therapists Program specializing in working with children with learning challenges.She has been an educator for over 25 years working with all ages. Terry brings a warm and sensitive teaching style to her students. She and her husband joined the parish 20 years ago and her 2 sons attended OLA.

 
 

Janice HerlihyJanice Herlihy has been working with students in the Resource Program for 13 years. Providing support for children in grades 1-4 has been her focus. Prior to joining the faculty at OLA, she was a classroom teacher for 10 years and received a MS in Special Education/Learning Disabilities at CW Post. Janice enjoys working closely with parents and teachers at OLA. She and her husband have been parishioners for 24 years and both her children attended OLA.

 
 

 Marg McCafferyMargaret McCaffery has been working with students in the Resource Program at OLA for 16 years. Prior to teaching at OLA she was a classroom teacher for 8 years. She has a MA in Special Education/Learning Disabilities from Santa Clara University. Her focus is supporting students and parents in grades 5 - 8. Marg has been an OLA parishioner for 27 years, is married and has 3 children who attended OLA. 


BOOK CORNER

Please visit the OLA library for books for parents. They are located on the far left wall on the top shelf above the encyclopedias. A sign up sheet is on a clipboard. You are welcome to check out any book for 2 weeks. Please let us know if you have any titles you would like to add to our collection!Add Content...
